The Workshop Kitchen

An icon of the local dining scene, The Workshop Kitchen offers a relaxed atmosphere with a menu of beautifully cooked dishes that will appeal to every taste. All seasonal menus have been created by Executive Chef, Ben Davies, a three times recipient of a Michelin Star.

A wood fired oven & grill are at the heart of The Workshop Kitchen. Both are fired up daily with the finest Pilliga Western Red Ironbark which imparts a unique smoked flavour. All our beef is sourced locally where possible from Paul Avery's Mountain View Farm at Piallamore to Jack's Creek at Willow Tree - two time winner of the World's Best Steak.

The Workshop Kitchen achieved a 2 Glass rating for its extensive wine list in the 2017 Australia's Wine List of the Year Awards. This global accolade recognises world class wine lists & establishments that are committed to presenting the best possible wine selection & service to their customers. The Workshop Kitchen is the first restaurant in the region to ever receive a 2 Glass rating with 184 wines on the menu and 42 wines by the glass.

The abundant menu, driven by fresh, local New England produce, is served by professional & engaging staff. Entrees are available in both small and large serves and dietary needs can be catered for with ease.

The Workshop Kitchen is renowned for being the only place in town to offer all day dining - serving breakfast, lunch & dinner every day. A visit to Tamworth is not complete until you've dined at The Workshop Kitchen.

Head Chef

Widely travelled & with a wealth of experience in the United Kingdom, David Hill’s career began in the kitchen of the Llangoed Hall Hotel in 1995.  David has worked at several award winning, three rosettes standard restaurants at luxurious hotels such as Ettington Park Hotel & The Welcombe Hotel in England. His most recent stint was at the exclusive Angel Hotel in Abergavenny, Wales as Head Chef.

In July 2014, David moved to Australia as Head Chef at The Powerhouse Armidale where he developed his appreciation for simple, fresh ingredients from the New England region. In a nod to his culinary excellence & inventiveness, he was chosen to launch the new Workshop Kitchen at The Powerhouse Tamworth in late 2016.

Whatever the occasion, whatever the dish, David creates flavour first and foremost, backed by style & plenty of substance. The Workshop Kitchen is regional dining to the core, interlinked with the producers of the area & a highly skilled & creative chef at the helm.
